Ricoh GR III HDF Thoughts

Intriguing but not what I was hoping for.

Ricoh seems to be taking their popular camera and creating multiple versions of it. Similar to what Dodge has done with the Challenger and Charger. Different versions for different types of enthusiasts. This might be a good strategy for a camera company that has a hit camera.

Is an HDF filter effect a desirable feature? I haven't decided yet. But I am in the market for another Ricoh camera.

Lastly, now there is a choices to make:

  • The Ricoh GR III HDF with the HDF filter.
  • The Ricoh GR III with the neutral density filter.
  • Or buy both.

For further reading, here is a blog post from Ricoh about the design behind the HDF.
